A “Regal” Church on the Grand Strand

Christ Church, a new Anglican Mission in The Americas church in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina officially "launched" on Sunday, September 18th. After months of preparation, prayer and hosting two "preview services" over the summer, Christ Church opened its doors to about 180 persons in attendance. A dedicated launch team, along with their pastor, the Reverend David Bryan, rejoiced as scores of new faces poured into their first weekly worship service.

This emerging congregation meets at the local Regal Cinemas in the Inlet Square Mall and transforms two of the theatre's auditoriums into spaces suitable for use as a place of worship and for children's ministry. Christ Church joins hundreds of other churches around the country which use local movie theatres to plant and grow new churches in their respective communities.
Christ Church is a "daughter church" of All Saints Church, Pawleys Island, which sent out thirty households to join the launch team of this new church plant. All Saints supports this new work with its prayers, financial support and by participating in programs like "Operation Epistle", where many All Saints members hand addressed and stamped thousands of letters sent out into the community inviting families to attend Christ Church.

Under girding this launch was an intentional prayer effort, which included teams who "prayer walked' the neighborhoods of Murrells Inlet over several months, weekly prayer meetings of the launch team, 40 days of focused prayer and a 40 hour prayer vigil leading up to the Grand Opening of Christ Church. God is demonstrating his amazing faithfulness and all those involved are looking forward with great anticipation.
