Ichthus Church in Naples Affiliates with Anglican Mission

Ichthus Christian Church in Naples, Florida has recently affiliated with the Anglican Mission. The congregation has been a non-denominational congregation since November of 2005.

“I have always been an Anglican with every fiber of my being,” said Pastor Jim Kennaugh. Raised in Ireland Kennaugh began as a youth minister for the Church of Ireland in the southern province.

Bishop Sandy Greene visited Ichthus Church in April of this year, and shortly after his visit, the church was welcomed into the Mission. Kennaugh is currently working toward ordination as an Anglican priest.

Originally, the church met in Kennaugh’s home and then moved to a local school. Currently, sixty members find themselves meeting in what local residents refer to as the “Old Charisma Chapel” on 621 Ridge Drive in Naples. The church style is charismatic with a liturgical foundation, where congregants enjoy a contemporary Rite II service.

Pastor Kennaugh describes the focus of this family-oriented, multi-generational flock as “His Mission, His Ministry, His Way.” The congregation is committed to reaching the unchurched and those that are hurting, fulfilling the ministry Jesus modeled. Mr. Kennaugh noted that he was influenced early in his ministry by the Rev. John Wimber, founder of the Vineyard Churches, and the Rt. Rev. David Pytches, bishop in the Church of England, and his ministry is marked by the gifts of the spirit as a routine part of the worship service.

“We have adopted the words of Dallas Willard – ‘With Him, learning to be like Him’ – as an extension of our mission statement,” says Kennaugh. “Our goal is to disciple those that come to us and then send them out to share Christ with others.”
