Plenary Session Speakers

2011 WC Speaker Lyle DorsettThe Rev. Dr. Lyle Dorsett has been the Billy Graham Professor of Evangelism at Beeson Divinity School since 2005 and teaches courses in evangelism and church history. He also serves as the pastor of Christ the King Anglican Church, an Anglican Mission congregation in Birmingham, Alabama. He is the author of 18 books, including several Christian biographies and three works on C. S. Lewis. His most recent book is A Passion for God: The Spiritual Journey of A. W. Tozer. He is married to Mary Hayes Dorsett, a deacon in the Anglican Mission. Together they founded Christ for Children International in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. They have two children and four grandchildren.


2011 WC Speaker Todd HunterThe Rt. Rev. Dr. Todd Hunter is a missionary bishop of the Province of the Anglican Church of Rwanda serving theAM as well as founding pastor of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Costa Mesa, California. He also leads Churches for the Sake of Others (C4SO), a church planting movement designed to develop Kingdom-based Anglican Mission churches located primarily, but not exclusively, on the West Coast of the US. He is the author of Christianity Beyond Belief, Giving Church a Second Chance, The Outsider Interviews and The Accidental Anglican, scheduled for release December 2010, and in addition is a sought-after speaker. Previously, Todd was President of Alpha USA and National Director for the Association of Vineyard Churches where he served as overseer of some 500 congregations during his seven-year tenure. Todd and his wife Debbie have two children, Jonathan and Carol, and live in Costa Mesa.


2011 WC Speaker Ed StetzerThe Rev. Dr. Ed Stetzer has planted, revitalized, and pastored multiple churches. He has also trained pastors and church planters on five continents, holds two masters degrees and two doctorates, and has written dozens of articles and books. Ed is a contributing editor for Christianity Today, columnist for Outreach Magazine and Catalyst Monthly, serves on the advisory council of Sermon Central and Christianity Today's Building Church Leaders, and is frequently cited or interviewed in news outlets such as USAToday and CNN. He is Visiting Professor of Research and Missiology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Visiting Research Professor at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and has taught at 15 other colleges and seminaries. He also serves on the Church Services Team at the International Mission Board. Ed’s primary role is President of LifeWay Research and LifeWay’s Missiologist in Residence.


2011 WC Speaker Len SweetDr. Leonard Sweet is a theologian, historian of American culture, preacher and writer who communicates the Gospel powerfully to a postmodern age by bridging the worlds of academe and popular culture. In 2006 and 2007, Len was voted by his peers as “One of the 50 Most Influential Christians in America” by ChurchReport Magazine. Founder and President of SpiritVenture Ministries, Len currently serves as the E. Stanley Jones Professor of Evangelism at Drew University, Madison, New Jersey and a Visiting Distinguished Professor at George Fox University, Portland, Oregon. Author of more than 200 articles, 1200 published sermons and 40 books, Len is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, state conventions, pastors' schools as well as retreats and is increasingly asked to lecture around the world.


2011 WC Speaker Kay WarrenMrs. Kay Warren is the Founder of the HIV/AIDS Initiative at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. She is a Bible teacher, author, and international speaker. Warren frequently travels the globe to encourage HIV positive men, women, and vulnerable children, and today she is a powerful voice on their behalf. Married to Rick Warren, together they founded Saddleback Church in 1980. In 2007, Kay authored Dangerous Surrender: What Happens When You Say Yes to God, and the revised and expanded soft cover edition, re-titled Say Yes to God, was released in fall of 2010. She also co-authored Foundations, a systematic theology course used in churches around the world. She and her husband have three children and four grandchildren and live in Southern California.


2011 WC Speaker Chuck MurphyThe Rt. Rev. Chuck Murphy is the Chairman of the Anglican Mission and senior Missionary Bishop of the Province of Rwanda. He is the founder of First Promise, a movement of clergy committed to faithfulness to their ordination vows, which led to the formation of the Anglican Mission. He was consecrated a Bishop by Archbishops Emmanuel Kolini and Moses Tay on January 29, 2000, pioneering a new way forward for other orthodox leaders throughout the Anglican Communion. His contagious passion and unique visionary gifting, along with his ability to create an environment in which others thrive in Spirit-inspired leadership, have contributed to his global reputation as an outstanding preacher, teacher and communicator. Having grown up in a Christ-filled home, his zeal for the Gospel was further developed under the personal tutelage of Dr. James I. Packer and thirty years of parish ministry. Bishop Murphy and his wife Margaret have been married for over 40 years and have three grown daughters (who have all served in leadership capacities within their local churches) and four grandchildren.
