Laity and clergy gathered October 15-16, 2010 for the inaugural Canadian Regional Anglican Coalition in Canada (ACiC)/AI Conference at Richmond Emmanuel Church in Richmond, B.C. Bishops Chuck Murphy, Chairman of theAM, and Silas Ng, Bishop overseeing ACiC and AI, offered plenary presentations and additional Anglican Mission leaders led workshops designed to strengthen and encourage participants as they work to fulfill the Great Commission in the Canadian Provinces. Speakers included the Venerable H Miller, Archdeacon and Executive Director, theAM; the Very Rev. Canon Mike Murphy, Episcopal Vicar, theAM; the Rev. Canon Allen Hughes, Canon Missioner, theAM; and Andy Piercy, Director of Worship Development, theAM, who also led worship for the event.

Bishop Ng kicked off the conference Friday outlining his vision for the next four years focusing on “discipling, evangelizing, mentoring and planting,” followed by a panel discussion of the “Vision and Culture of the Anglican Mission” featuring Bishop Murphy, Archdeacon Miller, Canon Mike Murphy, Canon Allen Hughes and Andy Piercy. The day closed with a celebration worship service featuring two ordinations – the Rev. H. David DeJong was ordained to the priesthood and the Rev. Benjamin D. Paulus was ordained to the Diaconate. Bishop Murphy preached on the “Second Missionary Journey of theAM: Where We Are and Where We are Going.”
On Saturday, Bishop Murphy presented a talk on the “Theology of Christian Stewardship,” and workshop sessions included: “The Values of theAM” (H Miller and Allen Hughes), Network Structures and Functions (Mike Murphy) and “Serving Your Congregations through Worship” (Andy Piercy). Canon Hughes spoke to clergy and their spouses on “Mentoring Young Leaders” during a dinner on Saturday evening. Sunday, these leaders visited and spoke at various area congregations.
“It was a most encouraging time that built a great sense of unity and provided excellent content,” noted the Rev. Ed Hird, ACiC. “The talk by Bishop Chuck on Stewardship was a highpoint of the conference, a real take-home message.”
