Restoration Church Plant Opens New Building to the Public
September 13, 2011
Fall is a season of new beginnings, especially for Restoration Church in Addison, Texas. On August 28, just as a new school year began, the church celebrated their long-awaited Grand Opening Sunday in a converted warehouse space off Sigma Road in Farmer’s Branch. The church plant had spent nearly two years on the move before God provided a permanent home of their own, guiding them to local property owners eager to help them get a start as a church. The purchased building needed some work, but the whole church pitched in to help.
“We had about seven weeks in the building leading up to the celebration to work out technical kinks and hold weekly work nights for our congregation to come together and work on projects to prepare the space for newcomers,” says the Rev. Jed Roseberry.
Church members built, cleaned, sewed and even assembled an entire Ikea kitchen to turn the warehouse into a warm and welcoming environment. On the front of the building, they hung the bold blue and brown letters that spell Restoration Church. Most importantly, they prepared themselves to receive visitors who would be drawn to their new church home.
On Sunday morning, the spacious building filled with the congregation and guests they had invited to worship with them.
“It was so touching to watch our congregation proudly introduce their friends to the church where God has brought them into community and restored their lives,” Jed says.
After the service, everyone gathered for barbeque provided by a fellow Anglican Mission church plant, Crosstimbers Anglican Church in Flower Mound, Texas, and snow cones in the parking lot. Smiles beamed from every face as people talked, laughed and ate.
“It was such a delight to celebrate with our church family in the place God has provided for us,” Jed says. “And together we truly celebrated everything that God has done for Restoration.”
