Almost 300 people turned out to hear the band play popular songs and Christmas tunes on Thursday evening, December 9 at the Intercontinental Hotel, the church’s regular worship location.

Matt Fuqua, one of the founding members of “The Afters,” leads worship for Restoration Church, and drummer Jordan Mohilowski and bass guitarist Dan Ostebo play regularly in the band.

“We had people drive from as far away as Oklahoma and fly in from Houston for the concert, and we even Skyped it via the Internet to the hospital room where one of our church couples was having their baby,” laughs the Rev. Jed Roseberry, Pastor of Restoration.

With a flurry of activity surrounding the Christmas season added to already busy lives, Jed finds that people have less time to engage with one another than ever before. “We are connected through the Internet but not at the level that our souls long for, the way Jesus connected with the disciples around the dinner table. This was a great opportunity for people to slow down during the hustle and bustle and be present with one another.”
