Hope Endures for Orphans in Rwanda
December 13, 2010

Homes of Hope committee members prepare a scrumptious lunch.
All Saints Anglican Church in Newport, North Carolina, hosted their fifth annual Homes of Hope luncheon fundraiser on Monday, December 6. The church’s efforts are instrumental in raising awareness and funds vital to the sustainability of 46 children living at Christian Hope Village in Kabuga, Rwanda, who are literally parenting each other.

These children are the beneficiaries of new homes, furniture, food and most recently, the construction of a multi-purpose facility from $40,000 in donations over the past five years. The new facility not only provides a central gathering place to host events and worship, but is also a source of income for the village as they lease the space for weddings and community events.

“Seeing updated photos and video interviews with the children is priceless to the group of people who are loyal to the event and to helping Hope Village,” shares Joyce McCune, event coordinator. “Many who couldn’t participate stopped by to give us a check, several new people expressed interest in helping on the committee and overall there is great positive interest among those who attended the event. It is great to take time out to focus on the needs outside of our immediate circles.”
