An Ancient-Future Faith...

Our Anglican Roots

Identity-jax-crossPractically, Anglican Christianity is rooted in the ancient faith and practice of the first century church and developed in the English Reformation. Driven by a missionary focus, Anglicanism has been about the work of making disciples for over 500 years and has expanded into a global church.

A rich worship experience is a key ingredient of our Anglican heritage. We embrace an interactive liturgy and emphasis on the sacraments of Baptism and Communion (or the Lord's Supper) instituted by Jesus himself.

Established in 2000 as a missionary outreach of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, the Anglican Mission has focused on planting churches throughout North America, adding on average one new congregation every three weeks.

The many faces of the Anglican Mission

Leadership Dev Hightops PriestWhile theAM * remains true to our ancient roots, we purposefully seek relevance and diversity in expressing our faith. Our approach to worship reflects the historic traditions of the early church, yet is colored with contemporary and fresh expressions designed to connect with people's hearts and minds, leading them toward a vibrant relationship with Jesus.

Our liturgy (order and expression of worship) offers a unique blend of ancient and future that captures the imagination, and we actively draw from the best of our ancient faith in ways designed to reach today's culture with the Gospel. You are just as likely to experience worship led by clergy and lay leaders in casual "Aloha" shirts and tennis shoes as formal robes.

Sometimes we worship in steeple-topped buildings with stained glass. Often, however, you'll find us gathering in a storefront, school cafeteria or even a cinema. Although our outward expressions differ, we remain deeply united in what we believe.

*We have also adopted shorthand to refer to the Anglican Mission – “theAM”. Over the years, a number of abbreviations have been used within and outside the Mission, including the “a-mi-a” (pronounced as a word), but we want to focus on mission and to be easily recognized and remembered. Think of it as our trademark which defines us and hopefully will pique curiosity to find out more!

Anglican Christianity is..

Biblical...centered on a commitment to the Bible as God's Word to us, the truth that guides our lives.

Unified...connected with Christians the world over for 2000 years that believe in salvation through Christ alone. In this way, Anglicanism is part of a global Christian faith, or, as expressed in the Nicene Creed: "the one holy catholic and apostolic church."

Historic...rooted in the earliest Christian church and upholds the teaching, promises and worship of Jesus, His apostles and the "priesthood of all believers." (I Peter 2:9, NIV)
