On Sunday, May 28th the family of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Hudson opened the doors of a new home after its nine-month rebuilding of a former medical arts facility near the center of Hudson in Northeast Ohio. Opening services in the nearly-filled sanctuary included representatives from several neighboring churches and several new families from our community.
The sanctuary, designed in a traditional New England style, seats approximately 225 and features beautiful wood workings including several key pieces created by parishioner Dale Shreffler especially for our chancel. Near the front stand three glorious flags representing the United States, Rwanda, and the Anglican Communion. A beautiful wood tabernacle presented by our sister church in Milan, Ohio will be installed on the chancel this week.
Senior Warden David Nix opened the services with words of welcome and encouragement and reminded the congregation that it was very much at the beginning, not the end, of its missionary travels. Doc Loomis, Sr. Pastor of HTA preached the opening sermon calling on the congregation and guests to step forward in preaching the Gospel and walking in the ways of Christ. Doc emphasized the church’s vision to be missionaries, spreading the Word, planting churches, and preparing a place to gather the lost and disciple the children of God. Fr. Loomis also reminded the congregation that their new surroundings and current growth are a result of their obedience to God and cautioned that we dare not begin to lean on ourselves or boast in our accomplishments. Carrie Warburton carried the Prayers of the People especially highlighting the church’s thanksgivings and mission. Whitney Loomis, representing our youth, sang the offertory solo, No Other Love, a comforting and inspiring piece written by parishioner Liz Hansen.
Prior to the construction of the new facility, the congregation of HTA worshipped for two years in a restored octagonal barn about two miles south of its present location. The congregation which began with a handful of former Episcopalians two and one-half years ago is a rapidly growing community today but has maintained its focus as a study-based church offering several weekly opportunities for gender, topical, and age-based study. The church also holds a mid-week service of prayer and healing which the Lord has seen fit to bless in powerful ways, adding to the church’s testimony every day.
Holy Trinity Hudson is part of the AMiA Heart of America Network with sister parishes and new works in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. The church is served by Missionary Bishop Thad Barnum who is scheduled to be in Hudson in late June for a service of consecration. The congregation is served locally by Deacon Sarah Nix; Assisting Pastor, Katie Kuehl; Verger, Dale Shreffler; Administrative Assistant, Madison Smith; and Worship Leader, Ellen Loomis.
The church family at Holy Trinity has felt the prayers of our brothers and sisters in the Mission, and we are grateful for your ongoing support and petitions. Please continue to pray that the Lord will open the doors of our new home as well as our hearts to the lost, and that we may be faithful to His Word as we set forth in renewed ministry together.
