Episcopal Diocese of Kigali Votes to Support Actions of the House of Bishops of the Province of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda

Synod Resolutions of the Province of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda:

Resolution 1

Having reviewed the request submitted to the House of Bishops of the Province of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda by the Anglican Mission in the Americas, and the decision taken by the same House to consecrate three more bishops to serve the Mission, this Synod fully supports and authorizes the consecration of these three bishops for service in the Anglican Mission on January 26, 2008 in Dallas, Texas.

Resolution 2

Having considered “The Road to Lambeth” which was “commended for study and response to the churches of the provinces in Africa” by the Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa (CAPA) Primates in September 2006, this Synod endorses “The Road to Lambeth” document.

Having reviewed the decision taken by the House of Bishops of the Province of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda on 19 June 2007 not to attend the Lambeth Conference (expressed and explained in a House of Bishops Communiqué on the same date), this Synod fully supports their decision not to participate unless the serious theological issues raised in “The Road to Lambeth” and the House of Bishops Communiqué of 19 June 2007 have been resolved.

Resolution 3

In recognition of our partnership in the Gospel of Christ, this Synod reaffirms our commitment to the Anglican Mission in the Americas and reaffirms that our sisters and brothers of the Anglican Mission in the Americas are fully members of the Province of the Episcopal Church of Rwanda.
