Church of the Messiah in Gulf Breeze, one of the earliest churches to join AMiA, is in the process of an exciting re-launch. Under a bold new vision, they have purchased an historic downtown church building in Pensacola, and are set to begin services there with a fresh new vision. Along with a new location, new vision, and new Rector, the church has selected a new name. Pastor Ron Browning led a congregational vote on April 3rd and the overwhelming choice was Holy Trinity Anglican Church. When asked why a new name was needed, Pastor Ron cited the need for ownership in the new vision, and also a need to break away from the past while focusing on the future. "A new name is a very visible expression of the fact that this is a new church plant. It allows us the freedom to do things differently without the tyranny of hearing, 'That's not the way we've always done it.'"

During a recent leadership retreat, a new purpose statement was agreed upon, "Building bridges, transforming lives!" States Pastor Ron, "This new purpose statement seeks to communicate our commitment to reaching into the community evangelistically, while focusing our discipleship on transformation instead of information."

Services are scheduled to begin in downtown Pensacola in May at which time the new name, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, will become official. Pastor Ron adds, "We are so grateful for God's amazing provision, and the willingness of AMiA, the Gulf Coast Network, and other individuals who have made this possible. I am humbled by the unbelievable generosity of church members and other congregations who have offered their help. In fact, Immanuel Anglican Church in Destin is organizing a Network-wide summer youth mission trip to Pensacola July 17th -24th to help Holy Trinity get ready for a public launch. We are expecting over seventy teenagers to converge on Pensacola to work on the building, conduct outreach into the surrounding neighborhood and learn about church-planting in a very hands-on way."
