Anglican Initiative for Mission Appoints Executive Director
The Anglican Initiative for Mission, a church planting initiative of the Anglican Mission in the Americas, this week named the Rev. Ron McCrary its Executive Director. Until recently, Ron was the senior rector of Christ Church in Overland Park, KS, an Anglican church under the Province of Uganda. Ron provided senior leadership at Christ Church for 21 years, growing it to over 1,000 in average Sunday attendance with a budget of more than $2 million. Out of Ron’s passion to see people come to faith in Christ and be transformed as disciples of Jesus, he established one of the largest Alpha Courses in the United States at Christ Church.
“The entrepreneurial, missional DNA of the Anglican Mission is consistent with my passion for contributing to the lives of emerging leaders,” Ron explained. “I want to invest in developing the next generation of Anglican church planters, putting additional muscle on the Anglican Mission’s vision to reach the 130 million unchurched through planting churches that plant churches.”
As Executive Director, Ron will steer the Anglican Initiative for Mission in pursuit of its vision: to inspire and call, train and equip, and send and support Anglican Mission leadership to plant and build reproducing churches and communities of faith to the glory of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Among Ron’s first priorities will be identifying potential church planters to attend the eight-day Anglican School of Church Planting, to be held in Plano, TX, in late May, and developing partnerships with Anglican Mission churches that desire to host a church planting resident who will be trained and sent out by that congregation to plant a church in the surrounding community. More information on the Anglican School of Church Planting and the Residency Program are available at http://www.theanglicaninitiative.org/ .
Ron will maintain an office at Christ Church Plano and can be reached at 214-663-7774 or ron@theanglicaninitiative.org. He will be working alongside the Rev. Nancy Scammacca, who has served as Acting Director during the search for an Executive Director. She will continue to provide leadership for the development of the Anglican Initiative for Mission from her office at MESA Community Church in Austin, TX. Nancy can be reached at 512-480-9080 x1 or nancy@theanglicaninitiative.org.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Ron is a graduate of Washington University (BA), the University of Texas (MA), and the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest (M.Div.). He also completed graduate work at Fuller Seminary. Ron was among the original 30 signers of First Promise and is a member of Christ Church in Plano. Ron and his wife Ann live in Richardson, TX, and have three children and four grandchildren.
